Land Acknowledgement

"We acknowledge all the Inuit, Métis, and First Nations Peoples of the land that has become Canada."
Dr. Malcolm King
"I like to start with acknowledging Creation itself and Creator for creating life for us here, and for giving us all of the gifts of Creation that help sustain us. We recognize that as the people we are the least important aspect of Creation as we rely on the rest of it to sustain our lives here. So we remain humble, thankful and grateful to Creator and Creation for these gifts and for the gift of our life here. We honour the lands and the original occupants of these lands, the Haudenosaunee and the Anishnaabe, by living our lives in the spirit that they intend which is by sharing, caring, and building meaningful peaceful connection with all of Creation, humans, and otherwise."

Explore the interactive map below to discover whose land you're on.

“Whose Land” is a web-based app that uses GIS technology to assist users to identify Indigenous Nations, territories, and Indigenous communities across Canada. It is a starting point for conversation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous citizens about land, territorial recognition, and land acknowledgment.

You can use the map to learn about the territory where you live and work.  Consider where you are, and what that means to you.
