We are a team of Indigenous and non-Indigenous researchers based at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine, First Nations University, University of Saskatchewan, Wilfrid Laurier University, University of Toronto, and Queen’s University.

We are excited to invite you to participate in an interactive participatory gathering about an open-access online training resource that has been developed to support community-centred research, called Indigenous Community Research Partnerships (ICRP).

As an invited guest you will have all costs associated with attending the meeting covered: your travel, accommodations, and meals, as per Queen’s reimbursement policy. As well, there will be honorariums for invited Elders, and their helpers (oskewpios), who are central to the event.

The objectives of the gathering are to:

  • Introduce the ICRP training resource
  • Share views about the ICRP training resource
  • Discuss how to know if the ICRP training resource is useful to support community-centred research
  • Plan for appropriate next steps, in support of community-centred research

An important element of the meeting is to build reciprocal relationships.   We would be so honoured to have you participate, and are incorporating some fun activities to help us become comfortable with each other as we discuss the important work.

You can look forward to:

  • A welcome evening on Wednesday Oct. 12th, check into your room, a Pontoon Boat ride on the river and enjoy a wonderful fish fry.
  • Some great discussions over a bon fire, yes, we will provide marshmallows and chocolate!
  • Enjoy group activities such as an art activity, medicine walk and cultural activities
  • Coordinated travel for your ease of travel
  • Enjoying the beautiful setting of the Biological Centre, take a look: Facilities | Queen’s University Biological Station (qubs.ca)
  • An open discussion about community-centred research

Please be assured that we have taken great care about safety at the Station, as it relates to COVID and emergency response.   Look for more details to come once you register.

We acknowledge that some people may want to engage in the event remotely. During registration you will have an option to identify if you will participate in person or virtually.

Best Wishes,
Janet Jull
